Tsunami Washington D.C.
|
This is an example of what a tsunami is capable of. This footage is from the tsunami that hit Japan last year.
|
Most people would leave on route 66 to get out of town. That would be about 617,996 people trying to leave on that route. The road would stall fast!
On the left this diagram shows how tsunamis are formed. The plates on the ocean floor shift and make a big wave called a tsunami that can be very devastating to a populated area such as Washington D.C. |

There are steps to take before, during, and after a tsunami. A few steps to take before a tsunami is to put up levees, or barriers that prevent water from coming in to a certain area. They even use levees for floods, we had a flood in the Missouri River last year. The National Guard would probably be the people who sets up the levees. They would put the levees around the monuments and major buildings. These would include the White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, The Capitol Building, and many more.
During a tsunami the stragglers will be trying to leave and mass destruction will be going on. Most people will have tried to escape town. so most people will have left town. After the tsunami disaster relief teams will would come and help save the remaining wildlife and population. They would clean away debris on the landscape. |
