WHAT TO DO IF...
A tsunami is coming to Australia
A tsunami coming to a city
Tsunamis may sound interesting to some people, until they see the damage that tsunamis can do. A tsunami is an extremely large wave that lasts for about an hour, though the longest amount of time recorded is three and a half hours. Many tsunamis are caused by earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, explosions, and meteorites. The force and pressure of the explosions or eruptions cause the waves to get bigger as they travel. If there was a tsunami warning in Australia, everyone there would need to act quickly. Since the coast of Australia has been hit by many earthquakes, even if they don't cause major damage, the chance of a tsunami has increased. The first thing anyone who lives on the east coast or west coast of Australia should have is a first aid kit. You need to make sure everyone is safe. The next thing you need to make sure you have is food and water to last for up to five days, a battery powered radio, blankets and warm clothes, and extra batteries. The best place to go if a tsunami is coming towards you is away from the coastline. If you are far away from the coastline when the tsunami hits, your chances of survival will increase rapidly. However, if you cannot get away from the coast in time, you need to get to higher ground. You shouldn’t worry about your pets, because they can sense if bad weather is coming, and they know they should get to a safe place. For your safety, you should not take a lot of time gathering things for your pet. If you just take some food and water, your pet should be fine. But if you want pack all of the toys and blankets your dog owns, I would suggest doing it ahead of time!
