Krakatoa Tsunami
- Krakatoa was dormant until May 20,1883
- The last of these eruptions opened fissures in the walls of the volcano
- A fissure is a crack or cleft
Precautions to take for a Tsunami
- If you are at home and you hear a tsunami warning, make sure your family is aware
- If you happen to be on the coast and you feel the ground shake, you should move immediately to higher ground
- Tsunamis are usually generated from further distances, so like I said before you should immediately get to higher ground
What to do during a Tsunami
- You should at least be able to survive for 3 days
- I suggest taking a couple of classes on what to do if a tsunami hits for more extensive information
- You should also know your local community's suggested evacuation routes to safe areas
What would happen if another tsunami were to hit
- Countless villages in remote areas would be destroyed and there would be thousands of deaths
- That is a fact because over 200,000 villagers were drowned or buried in the mud within minutes
