Japan's Waves
Surfer's enjoy riding many different kinds of waves.
But, like all things, waves (also known as swells) can change in a short matter of time.
What effects waves? Some factors are:
Wind
The Shape of the ocean floor
And nearby/distant storms
Beginners at surfing usually handle the white water part of a wave. While more seasoned surfers sweep onto the swell right before it breaks.
When surfing, or learning to surf, stick to beaches where children aren't playing and families aren't lounging, for the safety of THEM and YOU.
A great wave is determined by a surfer's preferences and
the previous factors listed.
Now, surfing, though extremely thrilling and fun, does have some dangers to having it as a hobby.
Many people drown by getting caught underneath their board or when colliding with other surfers, reefs, or even surfboards!
Of course, there is also the threat of marine life. Such as sharks and stingrays.
Experienced surfers usually avoid weather conditions where electricity can find the water, also when it is furiously raining.
But don't let these cautionary remarks scare you away from surfing! Surfing is a terrific sport, hobby, or lifestyle for anyone.
The best places to surf in Japan are in these areas:
