Tourette's Symptoms Affecting lives Of High School Students In Le Roy, New York
Early in the month of February an noxious gas has affected the lives of many high school students only four miles away from the school. In the 70s a train transporting 30,000 gallons of TCE ( a hydrocarbon made to de-grease metal parts ) derailed releasing all of the TCE into the groundwater below. TCE affects the central nervous system, and causes dizziness, headache, sleepiness, nausea, confusion, blurred vision and facial numbness. This has been causing some two dozen students to show tourettes like tics. The girls have reportedly dancing in the middle of the street. Later, many others have been seen dancing in the street. predicament.
How is the quality of the water
I cannot give you a definite answer about the quality but the New York Department of Health has not found any environmental or infectious cause to this. The Le Roy Water board will be looking into this.
Environmentalist Erin Brokovich has made many attempts to test the quality of the water including a quarry, and six fracking wells near the high school. Brokovich who had linked many cancer cases to some in California and LE Roy. Bowcock collected samples from the air and from the water to test.
How can I improve the quality of the water
I could improve the quality by getting a sample of TCE and try to figure out something that can destroy the molecules of the TCE while finding something that would not contaminate the population surrounding the area.
The New York Department of Health has said that since the high school is served by a public pipe it would affect many other people. A possible environmental trigger has affected a town called Corinth 250 miles away. One has been diagnosed with Tourette syndrome.
