Ogallala aquifer
The Ogallala aquifer is an aquifer that 30-500ft below land surface. It extends from South Dakota to western Texas. It runs through South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, and Texas.The aquifer is composed of clay, silt, sand, and gravel mixed with groundwater.It is recharged by rain and snow that is melted.The aquifer used to be recharged with water from the Rockies.This aquifer is being threatened today.It has been polluted,and erosion.The erosion has removed deposits in the aquifer.This aquifer is very important to several states.It is said if it runs dry we would loose loads of food,crops would die,plants would die,and along those lines.
