Philippines Tsunami
The Philippines is usually a warm and sunny place throughout the year. The Philippines also consists of many islands which are surrounded with oceans. Because of all the water that is around Philippines islands, tsunamis can occur. A tsunami occurs when tectonic plates under the oceans surface shift causing movement in the water and drawing all the water back, sending it straight forward destroying everthing in it’s path. When this action happens the tsunami can literally destroy a whole town. The repair of a town because of a tsunami can cost billions of dollars.
The Philippines is in the Ring of Fire. The Ring of Fire is an area/part of the world where the most tsunamis occur. So a fair amount of tsunamis happen in the Philippines per year. The people who live in the Philippines would know exactly what to do if a tsunami were to come to their town because of the amount of tsunamis that happen each year. The people who live right next to an ocean should be ready to evacuate from their home if the tsunami were to come too close. There are also quite a few evacuation routes laid out.
These are the steps to take before, during and after a tsunami:
