Australia- variety of waves and the waves are very consistent so you can surf all day
West Coast- the waves are dangerous and powerful so surf with caution
South Coast- the waves can get up to 20 ft. so mostly for experts
What waves do surfers look for?
They look for breaking waves.You want a wave that looks like it’s pealing a way (not a banana).
What parts do they ride?
Experienced Surfers- curving/bowling face (wall)
Beginner- white wash (broken wall)
Why- there is lots of tricks and maneuvers they can do there
What makes the great surfing wave?
Shape- barrels and allows the surfer to ride the wave as long as possible
Size- size usually depends on the the skill of the surfer
How are different waves approached?
Big- the surfer matches the speed by paddling, then they stand up, staying ahead of the white water, they can cutback by turning back and forth, or do a floater by riding on top of the wave, you can also do a hang ten by hanging your toes of the board
